One-of-a-Kind Food Tastings – Our Progressive Dinner Tour through Venice’s Cannaregio neighborhood visits at least 6 tasting locations in this historic community. Full portion tastings plus wine, enough for a full dinner, are included in the ticket price and offer many samples of Venetian delicacies.

We start by offering the top three most important traditional foods in the city.  These recipes date back 500 years and are still eaten daily by Venetians.  We feel it is very important to share these with you because it helps offer a greater understanding of Venice and her people.  As many traditions erode away, Venetians hold tightly to their culinary ones, knowing that it is vital to maintain a connection to the past, and what better way to do that than through food.  They also know if these foods are not prepared and eaten daily, then they will be forgotten, and all that will be left is footnotes in history books of what these foods use to be.  Venetians eat these foods to remind them of who they are.  You will be learning about all of them as we walk from bacaro to bacaro to eat them.

From there, it’s on to a traditional trattoria for more authentic Venetian dishes such as risotto or fritto misto, which is mixed fried seafood.

Then, we move on to gelato, because… well, because you are in Venice and it’s required by law to have at least a gelato per day.  We’ll help you meet that quota.

Finally, we end along the Grand Canal for the proper Venetian Spritz.

Between tastings, you’ll receive a behind-the-scenes look at one of Venice’s most intriguing neighborhoods.  You will meet the chefs, the owners and the servers.  You will meet our friends.  We will share our expertise of local customs and eclectic folklore so you can have an authentic Venetian experience.  Cancel your dinner reservations and join us for a night out instead!

WHO SHOULD TAKE THE CANNAREGIO PROGRESSIVE DINNER TOUR?

Our Progressive Dinner Tour is ideal for travelers eager to discover the culinary secrets and old-world traditions of this extraordinary neighborhood. Whether it is your first time to Venice or a returning guest, we guarantee that you’ll walk away with a greater understanding of the Venetians, their food and their beloved city.

WHY TAKE THE CANNAREGIO PROGRESSIVE DINNER TOUR?

Our Progressive Dinner Tour helps you slow down and explore Venice’s “Off the Eaten Path” neighborhood of Cannaregio. Get away from the hustle and bustle of Piazza San Marco and the Rialto and instead, dive deep into the heart of this charming area where many Venetians call home.

Delicious food specialties are served on this tour (subject to change)

Ca' D'Oro Alla Vedova

One of Venice's oldest osterie, famous for their deep fried meatballs.

Un Mondo Divino

A small bacaro converted from an ancient butcher shop, Un Mondo Divino is warm and inviting, and offers a huge selection of Venetian cicchetti.

Ai Divini

A true Venetian bacaro, with an excellent cured meat and cheese selection, they also offer great wines by the glass.

Trattoria Storica

Traditional local trattoria serving authentic Venetian specialties.

Gelateria Ca'D'Oro

Indulge in some of the best gelato in Venice.

Ancora

One of the few bacari that is also a piano bar. They serve some of the best Spritz in the city.

We will meet at the drinking fountain in Campo San Giacomo di Rialto, just off the base of the Rialto Bridge in the San Polo neighborhood side.

Have questions? Here's the most frequently asked.

How much food is served on the tour?

With the combination of food and drink tasting on the “Off The Eaten Path” Tour, most participants are comfortably full after our food tours and find that lunch (and sometimes even dinner!) afterwards is not necessary.  The Progressive Dinner is equivalent to one hearty dinner.

What if I have dietary restrictions/allergies/am vegan/gluten-free/paleo, etc.?

We will be visiting authentic Venetian eateries and it is not feasible to ask the proprietors to accommodate each and every dietary restriction.  We can say with confidence that every stop will offer several options for those pursuing a vegetarian, lactose or gluten-free (non-Celiac) lifestyle, as long as cross-contamination is not an issue.

Are restrooms available along the tour?

Yes, most of our tasting locations have restrooms available for customers.

Does the tour end at the same place we started?

The “Off The Eaten Path” Tour starts at the Accademia Bridge and ends near the Rialto Bridge.  We will assist anyone who needs to find their way back home.

The “Progressive Dinner through Cannaregio” begins and ends in the same place, by the Rialto Bridge.

"Since the couple who do these tours are originally from the USA it was very easy to understand their English and everything they said. The food was great and the drinks as well. Couldn't have been better!"
