Too many people think that Venice is just Piazza San Marco, the Basilica, and the Bridge of Sighs. Venice is so much more. Venice is a thriving city where people work and children go to school. It doesn’t take long to get out of the maddening crowds, but if you are on limited time, trying to navigate your way through the Venetian calli (streets), then it can become frustrating. That’s where we come in! We can get you around the city, on foot, at a leisurely pace, where you can experience the local neighborhoods and eat local food. It doesn’t get much better than that!
On this tour, you will get one of a kind Venetian food tastings:
We start off with a Caffe Corretto — this is the best way to start a morning! From there, we head to Gia Schiavi, for some of the best cicchetti in the city, washed down with house wine. Next, it’s time for a tramezzino, the Venetian sandwich, and of course, more house wine. As a mid-day snack, we have some gelato — this isn’t dessert, it’s simply a palette cleanse for the forthcoming lunch. After lunch, it’s then time for dessert, which we get at one of the best pastry shops in town. And finally, we end with the Venetian Spritz.
Between tastings, you’ll receive a behind-the-scenes look at two of Venice’s most intriguing neighborhoods. You will meet the chefs and the cooks, the owners and the servers. You will meet our friends. We will share our expertise of local customs and eclectic folklore so you can have an authentic Venetian experience, and the education you’ll need to navigate and eat in the fantastic city.

WHY TAKE THE “OFF THE EATEN PATH” FOOD TOUR?
Our “Off the Eaten Path” Food Tour helps you slow down and explore Venice’s neighborhoods of Dorsoduro and San Polo. Get away from the hustle and bustle of Piazza San Marco and the Rialto and instead, dive deep into the heart of these charming areas where many Venetians call home.
Bar Foscarini
Family owned for the past 25 years, start your day with Adriano and Luisa, and their sons Paolo and Simone, where they serve us our infamous "caffe corretto!"
Cantinone Gia Schiavi
A cicchetti stop (think of Spanish tapas), third generation family owned and operated, a favorite local hangout where the food is second to none.
Bar Alla Toletta
Tramezzini are chunky white bread sandwiches packed full of fresh ingredients. It's a Venetian staple, and Bar alla Toletta claims to have invented the tramezzino.
Muro Frari
An authentic Venetian tavern, specializing in seafood and meat dishes.
Pasticceria Rizzardini
Open since 1742, when there were only six pasticcerie in Venice, it is still family owned. We frequent this place for a very special sweet treat that we want to share with you!
Il Doge Gelateria
Owned by cousins Massimiliano and Mauro, they make some of the best gelato in the city, all made in-house with the best quality ingredients.
Naranzaria
Serving up creative, delicious cicchetti and one of the best Spritz in Venice, all with a view that is unparalled.
We will meet in front of the Accademia Gallery in the Dorsoduro neighborhood, right beside the Accademia Bridge, located in Campo della Carita.
